Volunteers and job descriptions- Volunteers Handbook

It was suggested to me that we should create a volunteer handbook, and I believe it to be not only a solid idea, but probably overdue.

If nothing else, 1/2 to 3/5’s of your Executive changes on a bi-annual basis, and apart from what’s written in the constitution there’s really nothing in writing to help pass the torch on when the term is up, or when an interested party looks at taking over. With this year heading to completion, I’d like to make sure that I see this project through, so I will head up bugging the Executive to edit/add/delete what they feel their jobs entail, as those roles have certainly evolved with time. I haven’t sprung this on them yet, but I’m sure they’ll be happy to oblige… :laughing: :laughing:

What I need help on is for each of you to also write down what it is that you do, and if there’s ways in which you’d do it differently in an ideal world. I do feel like I have a decent handle on each of the areas in the club, but I’d like the handbook to be the creation of the volunteers doing the jobs. It may seem like the busiest time of year to take this on, but in reality, it’s the ideal time, as most of us are about to do whatever it takes to make our 2016 season amazing. So as you go through your year, take a few minutes to reflect on just what worked, what didn’t, and what you’d tell future you if you had the chance. It can be as simple as a scribble on a grid sheet, or a lengthy email, just so long as it comes from you, there’s no such thing as wrong.
