Are these still necessary for a new helmet? If so, where can you get one? I’ve already checked places like Fortnine and Revzilla.
Thinking about Cameron’s accident makes me question why they’re needed in the first place.
He was completely unresponsive for about 20 minutes. I still have his helmet in the basement—it’s cracked, with most of the right side worn down. The Data Carrier is still intact, and neither the doctor nor any medical personnel at the track or hospital bothered to open it.
And the Track medical people should know. Maybe they need a reminder.
But also if there was someone there who knew all the info then maybe it’s not as urgent to get the info from the tag
It’s too bad the minutes from the AGM have not been posted. There was much discussion.

My helmet data carrier wasn’t opened either after my Calabogie crash
I think given that about the only useful information on it is contact info, maybe thats why.
(Also VRRA has that info on our sheets we provide to them before starting each event, so maybe thats also why?.)
In the UK and Ireland we have dog tags for this purpose (again limited info required)
I’ve gone a step further and gotten dog tags that also included things like:
-Medication (MEDS: given the space I propose the options YES or None unless a specific one fits)
-Blood type (TYPE: )
I’ve made a post about this here on the forums and also on Facebook if anyone is interested for their own personal use.
(For me it is just added peace of mind. In my case given my age there was continual skepticism all the way through to teh hospital and recovery that I wasnt on any medication. I wouldn’t want that to cause any delays.)
