Grand Bend Friday Practice.

Ok , sidecar folk.
Can we put a practice grid of 10 rigs together for Friday at Grand Bend?
It’s what we need to run that day.
So far I know that my team (2 rigs) , Brian and Matt are ‘in’ , so that’s 4.
Any more takers? It would be great to know before the date. If we don’t have 10 , I won’t rush to get there on Thursday evening.
I have raced Grand Bend on a modern sidecar . I would encourage anyone with a sidecar to get some practice. The main issue I had was that, because the circuit is so flat and the sidecar is so low to the ground corners come up very quickly and you really have no idea where it’s going until you are in it.
The solo bikes have a height advantage and can see the whole corner while going round.
I am on a sitter rig this year so I will be a bit higher up that the P2 and P3’s.
Anyway, it’s totally up to each team and I know it’s difficult to get away from work on Fridays sometimes.
Please post here if you are going so others don’t make the trip for nothing.

Thanks for posting this Miles. I’m of the same mind re rushing there for Thursday if we (sidecars) won’t get to practice on Friday.

By the way, what’s the 2nd sidecar??

Sounds like at best we might have 4 rigs, so probably best to check with Ken to see if we would even get practice sessions on Friday.

I think Ken’s a pretty creative guy. My feeling is that if there’s a sidecar class there should be a sidecar practice. Shouldn’t really matter if there’s 1 or 10. I’m sure we can all accept a minute or two less time to make sure we all get on track. That’s my vote anyway.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Ashton. Just don’t want to take an extra day off, and then arrive Thursday to find I’m going to be sitting around Friday. Guess the best thing is for all the sidecars that want to do the ‘paid practice’ on Friday to get their forms into the track.

You have to register with the track for the Friday practice. Click on ‘Grand Bend Raceway’, then ‘lapping days’ at bottom of page. Select July 18 (Friday), quantity (1), and this will take you to a ‘check out’ page.

The VRRA form is for Saturday & Sunday racing only.

I sent a message to see if there was a discounted rate as were only practicing for 1/2 day. No reply as of yet.

Sorry to say that an answer about the possibility of sidecars getting track time has not been forthcoming.
We are racing in New Jersey the previous weekend and won’t be rushing to Grand Bend without confirmation of track time.
The posts that I have seen so far indicate that it’s not likely to happen.
I posted a request for information, let’s hope we get some.
But as it stands right now we won’t be there Friday.
