For sale: 1962 Honda CB72
Purchased new in Ontario with the factory race kit and began a life of production racing, 64 years ago. Not 100% sure about this, but is seems to have been raced at the 1967 Grand Prix of Canada at Mosport.
Purchased in rough condition in 2012 by Ian McQueen, who then spent four years restoring and improving it for VRRA’s 50th anniversary salute to that ‘67 GP in 2017.
Note 1: Pops Yoshimura’s first project was a CB72. I’ll include a photocopy of his 1965 article in Motorcyclist magazine, “My Method of Tuning.”
Primary class: Pre-65 350. Bump up: P1 250.
Many podiums, leading to three championships.
Note 2: Championships won by Dave Lloyd and Ian using high compression pistons. When I needed to source a replacement in a hurry in 2023 and couldn’t find one, I went with lower compression stock ones. Still, I was second and third at season’s end in 2024 and 2025, respectively. (And I weigh a lot more than these guys! 
)
Note 3: 250GP is AHRMA’s Feature Class in 2026, and this bike fits there. AHRMA provides a number of added benefits to racers in that class, including discounted race fees, special trophies, and spotlight photos in Roadracingworld.com. I would prefer that this CB72 stays in the VRRA because of its Canadian racing history, so this is just added info for buyers (and our other P1 250 girls and guys.)
