Are these any good?
The right-hand shock on the CB350 got bent outwards during that “Incident” at Shannonville and a gentleman from down the street who restores vintage MX bikes offered me a set.
They are 6mm longer than the originals, but I don’t think that’s a big deal.
They are actually rebuildable You can still get OEM and aftermarket rebuild kits for them. The damping is also “adjustable” by fitting different damping inserts.
I just don’t want to spend $1500 on a set of Maxton’s
Hi Brian, I have been using Boge Mulholland shocks on my 175 Kaw track bike for a number of years and they have worked well. Have another rebuilt set on my other Kaw - as you say, bits are still available and adjustable by changing some of the internals. If the Boge shocks you’re being offered have the lower clevis to fit the Honda swingarm, pretty rare - never seen a set. If you pass on the shocks, could you give your neighbour my contact info, please, as I could use another set. Good luck with your rebuild. Patrick Cowan.
Thanks Pat. They do have an eye on the bottom but I think that is easily changed on the swingarm.
From what I can gather a lot of the seals and orings are just off the shelf from a bearing shop and can’t go wrong with free.
