Volunteer Coordinator

We’ve only got 6 months left…

First, a huge thank you to Colin for doing an amazing job of keeping us on an even keel for 2015. Colin’s work this year will unfortunately be stealing him away from a full time volunteer position in the club, but he’ll be at the events when he can.

So, I need a helping hand. The VC job has, like many of the volunteer positions changed considerably for the upcoming season. The primary responsibilities are as follows, although there are occasional others:

Contact the Tech chair, registrar, race control and myself for a list of lunch orders for each of the four events. Assemble these names onto a spreadsheet (pre-populated sheet matrix provided) and get the list to me one week prior to each event.

Set out and fill (4) coolers with ice and water (water supplied to you at tech, ice at track canteen) One cooler goes to Pit in, one to pit out, one to bike pick up, one to tech.

Supervise and supply volunteers to pit in (4), supply back up and rotational volunteers to bike pick up (1-2) same for pit out (1-2)

I have the pre-populated volunteers spreadsheet from this season, and it’s shockingly large. So the majority of the work is pre-event (1-2 weeks) contacting volunteers and making sure they’re on board with helping out, and working out who’s available for what, and what times they’re available. Also recruiting new volunteers to lighten the load. Many hands make light work! Mornings pre-rider meeting are probably the busiest part of your day, making sure the four primary stations have what they need. From there it’s very much just listen to the radio (big help if your a racer wanting to hear your race calls!!) and help out when needed. So if you think you can work with me, let me know, and I can get you set up. I can certainly use the help!

Welcome aboard, and a huge Thank You to Shelley Holden for taking on this position! You of course all know Shelley as the driving force in keeping Miles’ s@$t together at the track, and now she’s extending that effort to us as well!! LOL. Thank you Shelley!

As soon as Shelly has her email set up and volunteer lists squared away we will post her contact info, and we can all report for duty. Remember, it’s the volunteers that make this all happen, an hour from you here and there keeps us all on track. Many hands make light work!

Thanks again Shelley!

Yaaaaay Shelley! I already thought you were awesome - now you’re even awesomer!!!

Huzzah for Shelley!
Thank you for stepping up.

Bravo Shelley.Well done.

Here Ye, Here Ye! Attention in the Paddock!

Again, a huge welcome aboard to our new Volunteer Coordinator, Shelley Holden!

Please, all returning volunteers check in with Shelley at your earliest possible convenience. It’s important that we get an idea of our staffing needs, and give Shelley all the help we can to make her first season a success. And remember, if you enjoy the racing we provide, please consider giving back to the organization with a few hours here and there. Many of our needs can be filled with just an hour or so a day by anyone willing to pitch in. So please consider doing so this season, if you haven’t already decided to do so.
Shelley can be reached at her spanking new VC email address of shelley.vrra@gmail.com

Thank you to all of you that work so hard for our club, and thank you to Colin McConnell for the two seasons previous! Your excellent organizational efforts gave us a great place to start!
